Why you need a different machine design to melt EPP materials?
The whole principle for hot melting EPP materials is same for melting EPS materials,Both materials can be recycled by hot melting from electric heaters at chamber end.So they are electric to produce heat to melt.Both materials can be crushed into scraps by steel blade at shafts.
But the machine design will be a bit different,we will discuss the machine difference later and show you the reason from EPP materials property to start with.
What is EPP materials?
EPP is Expanded Polypropylene foam.It is a highly versatile closed-cell bead foam that provides a unique range of properties, including outstanding energy absorption, multiple impact resistance, thermal insulation, buoyancy, water and chemical resistance, exceptionally high strength to weight ratio and 100% recyclability.
Why EPP melting is different with EPS melting?
The EPP materials property itself causes a different design of melting machines.EPP material has a compressive strength of 20-40MPa, which is much higher than other common foam materials such as polystyrene foam (EPS) and polyurethane foam (PU), and is not easy to break or deform when subjected to high pressure. This high strength property makes EPP material an ideal cushioning material during transportation, especially suitable for items that require additional protection.
EPP material not only has high strength, but also has the characteristics of light weight. Its density is usually between 10-100kg/m³, which makes it lighter in weight at the same volume. This lightweight property is of great significance in many fields.
What are the design difference for EPS melting machine and EPP melting machine?
As previously mentioned,EPP has more strength,so it needs stronger crushing force.As you can see from the picture,the two crushing shafts are driven by two independent motors and the motors are directly horizontal driven the shafts.
The motor for screw in chamber are bigger power and the reducer is box type which is hard teeth quality.Also the chamber for EPP melting machine is more thickness than common EPS meting machine.
